Kathleen Mackey received a BFA in Film Studies at Ryerson University before beginning an MFA in Documentary Media at Ryerson in 2008.
Her interest in film and media began in high school where she became proficient as a picture editor. At Ryerson, she was drawn towards documentary and producing, focusing on personal documentaries and local stories.
Kathleen’s thesis project focuses on the death of her family’s farm in Whitby, Ontario which has inspired a large-scale documentation of the farm before it disappears and an exploration into home video, memory, family histories and changing landscapes.
Kathleen lives in Toronto and enjoys exploring and photographing its various unique and diverse neighbourhoods.
